The possible has been tried and failed. Now it's time to try the impossible.

Submit to Love Studios is home to a collective of artists living with brain injuries, working together in an open studio environment that encourages mutual support and growth. All artists are members of Headway East London, a Hackney-based charity that supports brain injury survivors, their families, and carers.
In 2018, in resonance with Roots, Rhythms & Records, an exhibition celebrating the sounds and stories of African and Caribbean music in Hackney, artists from Submit to Love Studios created a series of paintings during a musical workshop. To explore the therapeutic benefits of music on the mind and the creative process, they were invited to experiment with raw, expressive free painting and drawing while listening to jazz masters.

It's all music.

STARRING

I can't see any separation between my music and my life. I play pretty much race music: its about what happened to my father, to me, and what can happen to my kids.

Archie Shepp

I never heard my music played the way I heard it in my head.
